Not so much sun here this weekend- it's suddenly cold again- and the pictures I'd planned on taking for Sunlit Sunday this week (outside tapping maple trees) didn't happen- thanks to -27 windchill. Oh well- it'll warm up someday- in the meantime I'm reveling in the smell of wet dirt out in the front porch, and checking daily to see if anything's coming up. Enjoying the tiny citrus tree that's sprouting leaves, adoring the baby belly that's been hanging around menacing the plants- (that low level is so tempting to little fingers). Noticing the lovely lacy edges on the horseradish plant- which will be lost in the madness of summer, when it gets planted out among showier things- and is surrounded in a sea of green.
And so quietly, quietly, spring is edging it's way closer. I always want it to barge in, and fill the world with warmth and growth, but that's just not the nature of spring is it? It is more of a quiet unfurling, a gentle rain that slowly fills the cup.
Joining in again for Sunlit Sunday over at
My Little Home and Garden.
A sweet picture of your toddler looking over the seedlings. I should be doing that too - planting seeds for the vegetable garden - but I know nothing about it. We will be planting one for the very first time this year. Thank you for visiting and leaving your comment. Hopefully we'll have some warmer weather soon! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed the small hand reaching over the seed pots. I should have to wonder if something jumps up will it be gone the next day. Looking forward to warmer weather and getting into the green house for now, I'll have to wait for the sun to melt away the snow so I can get in the door.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the little one and the seed pots. So sweet! And so fun for them to learn about growing food. Thanks for stopping in at Cranberry Morning. Your answer to my question was almost identical to my daughter Angela, that at first I thought it was her. :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, spring comes slowly. You sound like you've made your peace with that; I'm not sure I have yet. Beautiful baby belly.
ReplyDeletein LOVE with the little one and the seeds....what a wonderful photo..priceless :)
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful way of expressing yourself, Angela. The "quiet unfurling" is bound to occur; I'll hunt for snowdrops soon, the first sign of new growth in my garden. I hope your little one isn't tempted to pluck the first seedlings; it's a wonderful education for her to see things pop through the earth.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're able to tap the trees soon.
Karen
So enjoyed the pictures of your beginning the garden indoors - so sweet to see the wonder of your baby.
ReplyDeleteLovely tender greens of spring. Before you know it, spring will come rushing in, all green and lush. Baby bellies, little bare feet and curious hands are so sweet.
ReplyDeleteOh that little one is just adorable. I can so relate to being anxious about wanting things to come up and grow. I use to dig up my bulbs because they weren't coming up fast enough.
